Janis L. Peterson, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist
Janis L. Peterson, Ph.D. has been a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington since 1988 (License #PY00001248). She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at Purdue University, her Master of Science Degree in Psychology from Washington State University, and her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Vermont. She also completed a one-year post doctoral fellowship in Child Clinical Psychology at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Prior to joining the Family Center for Behavioral Health, Dr. Peterson has been in several private practice groups in both Washington and New Hampshire. She has also been a school psychologist in New Hampshire, taught Community College as well as being a Clinical Instructor in the graduate program of Psychology/Psychiatry at Dartmouth Medical School.
Dr. Peterson’s theoretical orientation focuses primarily on cognitive behavioral and solution focused interventions. Within this framework the client is actively involved in developing their treatment plan as well as engaging in “homework” outside of individual sessions. Dr. Peterson works with older adolescents and adults, in individual and couple formats, with a focus on changes throughout the lifespan including entry into adulthood, career options, marital issues and divorce recovery, pre-retirement preparation, and general happiness and well being. Anna B. McDonald, Psy.D., Licensed Psychologist
Anna B. McDonald, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington and has been in private practice since 2005 (License #PY00003452). She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She earned her Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Denver and completed her internship at Riverbend Community Mental Health in Concord, NH. Dr. McDonald is proud to be a native of the Pacific Northwest.
The theoretical orientations guiding Dr. McDonald’s therapy include cognitive-behavioral, systems, developmental, and psychodynamic theory. She is also a certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. Dr. McDonald develops a treatment plan for each client based on their unique needs, with some treatment more solution-focused and brief in nature, and other treatment more in-depth and of a longer duration. She enjoys using humor and creativity in her work with clients and their families.
Dr. McDonald specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents. Desiree Gaffney, LMHC, Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Desiree M. Gaffney, MA, LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor and child mental health specialist in Washington State (License #LH60373141). She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Self and Society and earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Saint Martin’s University. Desiree completed her internship at Greater Lakes Mental Health Care in Lakewood, Washington.
The theoretical orientations guiding Desiree’s therapy include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Developmental Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Existential Therapy. Mark R. Ferrer, MA, MBA, LMFT
Mark has assisted youth, adults, families, and organizations over his 25+ year career by helping clients reduce barriers to and facilitating elements of healthy growth, functioning, and the achievement of goals.
He has worked as a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor for over 10 years in WA State, treating both youth and adults, after earning a BA in Psychology at Western Washington University. Mark also worked as a Mental Health Counselor and Family Therapist during and after earning a MA in Psychology from Antioch University Seattle, studying both mental health treatment and family therapy.
In 1998 Mark moved east, having the experience both as a clinician and a director of several programs. He wanted a deeper grasp as to the systemic issues involved in organizational systems, similar to but different from family systems, and earned an MBA in Strategic Management at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.
After working for multiple mental health and substance abuse facilities since 1987, Mark has been a private practitioner since 2012, first on the east coast and now back in the PNW, utilizing research based and traditional models of family therapy with individuals, couples and families. Jennifer Hogge, MS, LMFT, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Jennifer Hogge is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (License #- LF 61093334) in the State of Washington. She completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Utah in Psychology. Jennifer attended graduate school at Utah State University and completed a Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Michael Wong, M.Ed., LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor in Washington State (License # LH 61255846). Michael attended his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Michael then went on to complete his graduate degree at the University of Puget Sound for his Masters of Education in Mental Health Counseling.
