Anna B. McDonald, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington and has been in private practice since 2005 (License #PY00003452). She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She earned her Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Denver and completed her internship at Riverbend Community Mental Health in Concord, NH. Dr. McDonald is proud to be a native of the Pacific Northwest.

The theoretical orientations guiding Dr. McDonald’s therapy include cognitive-behavioral, systems, developmental, and psychodynamic theory. She is also a certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. Dr. McDonald develops a treatment plan for each client based on their unique needs, with some treatment more solution-focused and brief in nature, and other treatment more in-depth and of a longer duration. She enjoys using humor and creativity in her work with clients and their families.

Dr. McDonald specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents. She is experienced with many of the issues that children and adolescents encounter including anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, school refusal, oppositional behavior, self-harming behaviors, relational conflicts, social skills, and anger management. Dr. McDonald has a special interest in working with parents on parenting skills and strategies.

Dr. McDonald also provides treatment for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, family-of-origin issues, trauma-related reactions, and general stress management.

Dr. McDonald is a member of the Washington State Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. She is a preferred provider for many insurance companies in the Puget Sound area. She has been a provider with the Family Center for Behavioral Health since 2005.
